About Asia About Asia

The photographs here were taken during a trip in Asia from November 2000 to November 2001 during which my sister and I crossed the following countries: India, Nepal, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore and Indonesia. Walking, cycling, boating or by train and dangerous bus journeys, using the photographic medium during these twelve months were the opportunity for me to engage more easily with the people in order to encounter new horizons. Mainly spending the year in remote villages, I wanted with those images to capture the every day life moments that two people who don’t speak the same language can share and remember for many years to come.

Fascinated by their colourful and sometimes difficult lives, their features and farming activities with tools that not many of us remember, I wanted to capture what may one day disappear in those countries too and forever forgotten.
